Welcome
to Nostalgic Lavender, home to my lyrics & translations for my
favorite jpop artists, including Maaya Sakamoto, Rie Fu, Bonnie Pink,
Chihiro Onitsuka, and Ringo Shiina. Other genres covered are anime
(Cardcaptor Sakura) and other foreign music (Shakira only, at the moment).
This site was created primarily to host lyrics and translations that I
have done myself, and from 2006 releases on they've all been translated by me, but some older releases will include translations by other people as well,
with proper credit given of course. Do not take these lyrics and re-post them elsewhere. First of all, soon you won't be able to anyway. You really don't want to copy them and put them somewhere because I make frequent updates to the lyrics, and if you copy them you'll just end up with an eventually outdated version. I also don't want them being copied to go on a wiki lyrics site either. Obviously, though, I can't stop you from taking them and reposting them somewhere--much as I wish I could, and trust me you really don't want to anyway--so all I ask is that you CREDIT me if you do. Translations are not in the free domain; they are the result of someone's very hard work and credit is essential. I'll probably go after you if you don't, so just do it. Although I'd really prefer that all my translations stay here, in their home. Just link back to here, it's not that hard. I keep this site up-to-date on an artist's most recent releases. You will probably be surprised by how well I keep it up to date on the latest releases, as I am aware many other sites do not or take a while to update. I hope this will be the best place to find current lyrics in the genres I cover. I hope to eventually be the authority on lyrics/translations for each of the artists/categories I do. :3 ![]() I also have a blog, basically an offshoot of this site, to post translations of these artists' journal entries, interviews, etc. If it hasn't been updated in a while, that's because I'm focusing on translating lyrics, which is my top priority. Regarding contacting me: The best way to reach me is through email. If you're going to contact me to say you've discovered an error in romaji, look at the bottom of the lyrics page first. Does it say "Romanization credit"? If so, that means I didn't make that romaji and telling me there's an error is going to do virtually no good. I'm aware that a lot of the romaji made by other people have errors, and I plan to replace it all with new romaji by me. That means I'm going to discover the errors and fix them all on my own--you don't need to let me know and you CERTAINLY don't need to take it upon yourself to provide me with the romaji you have made for me to post. I do not accept submissions and I only post my own work aside from what is already there, which as I have said will be replaced in the future. Thank you. Also, do not ask me for the lyrics in text form. They are in images for a reason and that is because I am unable to trust that the text will be used for good and not for evil (re-posting elsewhere). Regarding my credentials: I've been studying Japanese since 2004 (and, for the Shakira lyrics, have been studying Spanish since 1998). During fall 2006 I studied abroad in the Tokyo area of Japan (you can read my blog about it here) and was really able to increase my Japanese language skills exponentially. I love Japanese (and all foreign languages) and I love translating and I'd like to have a career in it one day. I really work on honing and perfecting my translations so they are not only as accurate as possible but as natural-sounding in English as possible. Some of the older translations may contain a few mistakes--I am aware of this--but every so often I go through and correct them, and the newer translations are radical improvements. This site looks best in Mozilla Firefox at 1024x768 or higher resolution. It looks okay in Internet Explorer, but the text is bigger so lyrics and translations don't line up right. If you can use Firefox instead of IE to view this site, I STRONGLY urge you to do so. (And maybe use it for everything as well... because IE sucks and Firefox is just better overall.) Regarding any fine print (i.e., please don't sue, I have no money!), the original lyrics of all the songs belong to the respective writers and composers--but my own specific romanization & translation are copyright to me. If you like what you see here, please sign the tagboard and let me know!! Thanks :D To navigate, click on the buttons on the left. A T next to the song title indicates translation. Enjoy! :) |
