Both titles are meant to be a play on the word "compact disc") is a collection of Ringo's favorite songs, covered by herself. She sings in not only Japanese and English but French, German, and Portuguese here. Georgy Porgy 2002.04.10Yokoshima Georgy Porgy Info: An online-exclusive track, also a cover, released about a month before this album, this can be seen as a lead-in single for the album. The track was available for download, free off Ringo's website, between April 10 and 17, 2002 and between May 1 and 9, 2002. Yokoshima (meaning "Evil") was a Toto cover band formed by Ringo and her brother Junpei specifically to cover the Toto song "Georgy Porgy." As Junpei released a cover album himself on the same day of Utaite Myouri's release, entitled discover, this online collaboration cover track served to promote both albums. Takashi Numazawa, the drummer on Utaite Myouri, knew Toto's drummer, Jeff Porcaro, because his father Joe Porcaro had taught Numazawa how to drum. Because of this, Ringo conceived the idea to cover a Toto song. At first she was going to sing the whole song herself, but then decided to let Ukigumo, future Tokyo Jihen Phase 2 guitarist, sing the male part, that of Toto's vocalist Steve Lukather, because his voice resembled his more, while she sang the female part--guest backing vocals originally provided by Cheryl Lynn. Junpei can also be heard as background vocals during Ringo's parts. back to Ringo Shiina |
