I know we can sing and smile together,
I know we can sing and smile together,
I know we can sing and smile together,
now and forever

By putting my hands on the wall, I hear the sounds inside
That’s the only thing I can do now
My heart’s pounding too fast
The mystery of eternity is beyond that closed door
What are you really thinking about?
It keeps on going fast
Laughing together with
someone – is the reason we do that
just the same thing as trying to hide an unavoidable loneliness?
Holding on tightly to this time that can never be replaced
Laughing, to where grace is
It feels like we’re all ashamed of being born naked But isn’t wrapping our bodies in clothing the true sin? It feels like we’re all ashamed of exposing our naked hearts But don’t we all go on wearing masks?
Many times over and over
Laughing together with someone – is the reason we do that just the same thing as trying to hide an unavoidable loneliness? Holding on tightly to this time that can never be replaced Laughing, to where grace is
Let me go let me go let me go At times things go bad, too, but Take it slow take it slow take it slow Slowly climb back up again I know you can do it
Laughing together with someone – is the reason we do that just the same thing as trying to hide an unavoidable loneliness? Holding on tightly to this time that can never be replaced Laughing, to where grace is

Translator's notes: The title is a bit confusing,
but I believe Rie is talking
about how we laugh with others and put on a happy face so we can be
taken to where grace is,
to where we are forgiven and loved because we are (or at least seem) happy. The word "megumi"
in Japanese is very much associated with blessings, glory, mercy,
and grace from the gods or God, just as the word "grace" is in English.
